Real industrial lignosulfonate powder sample

Lignosulfonate is a conventional plasticizing and dispersing component for selected cementitious, ceramic and mineral systems. It may improve flow or reduce water demand, but performance depends on grade, active solids, substrate chemistry and process conditions.

Application Areas

  • Conventional concrete and mortar admixtures.
  • Cement raw slurry and selected grinding-aid formulations.
  • Ceramic bodies, mineral slurries and other aqueous particulate systems.
  • Combination admixtures where set modification and moderate dispersion are required.

Recommended Concrete Screening

For conventional concrete, approximately 0.15–0.30% dry lignosulfonate solids by mass of cementitious material may be used as an initial laboratory range. It is not a guaranteed production dosage. Test slump, water demand, air, bleeding, setting and strength using the actual cement and all other admixtures.

Performance Boundaries

No fixed water-reduction, strength or cost-saving percentage applies to every mix. Excess addition may retard setting, increase air or reduce early strength. High-range water reduction may require SNF, PCE or another purpose-designed superplasticizer.
